We’re proud to announce we are now a certified #BCorp, making us the first design studio in Scotland to make the grade. We are in great company, joining a community of businesses measuring our social and environmental impact and making meaningful change.
What is a B Corp?
Certified B Corporations (B Corps for short) are businesses that meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. They go through rigorous verification to make sure the environment and society are at the core of their business decisions.
B Corp is changing business
As a B Corp we are part of a global community of businesses taking responsibility for their impact and harnessing that to build a better world. As business owners we are setting new benchmarks for what is expected of us, our suppliers and the work that we do. In practice this means we do our best to work with local suppliers, our print work is carbon offset and produced using solar energy, and we can sleep at night knowing our banking, pensions and energy are not contributing to the climate emergency. On top of this, we dedicate 24 days of our studios time to charities or not-for-profits who need our support. This year we are working with the Royal Hospital for Children to transform their theatre department.
A mark of trust
As designers we will always advocate for solutions that are inclusive and long lasting with minimal environmental impact, favouring a circular economy where possible. We know that the reach of our work goes much further than our clients so have set criteria and critical friends to hold us accountable to our values. We are not paying lip service here. We really care that our work is inclusive and working towards a positive future.
Force for good
Design is a powerful tool for good and we want our skills to support the people and causes who need it. The organisations out there doing the ground work to tackle the climate crisis or fighting for the rights of under-represented groups. We know we can help them to take their message further but our services must be accessible to these groups which is why we have a discounted rates for charities and not-for-profits.
Room to grow
It’s been a long journey but for us it does not stop here. We plan to continually learn and evaluate our commitments in order to build a more sustainable future. There are now over 400 B Corps in the UK, let’s be the change and share the journey! Find out more here.
